Luke 8:14 (NASB95)
14 “The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
Mark 4:18–19 (NASB95)
18 “And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, 19 but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
The Lord said, “I’ve come to reset the priorities of My people. They are not going to focus on Me unless they have to. They are drunk on the Spirit of the world. Worldliness has crept into the Church. Busyness is an idol; it is idolatry. I’ve called My people out of the world into My presence, not to be choked by the cares of this life. My people are looking to the left and to the right and cannot fix their eyes on Me. They choose not to keep their eyes on Me. So, I am bringing judgment to peel away those things that choke out the word in them and choke out My Spirit (Mark 4:18-19; Luke 8:14), distracting them and preventing them from focusing on Me (Matthew 14:28-31).
The busyness of parents and the busyness of children, and the busyness that parents have taught their children to move in, has kept them from Me and My Spirit. They have chosen the world over the things of the Spirit and those things that pertain to life. But I am bringing them into account, and they will be shaken, and then they will repent. The shaking will bring repentance even with those who are walking with Me; they, too, are distracted. They are distracted by dead works, what they see in the world, the pleasures of this world, entertainment, sports, and restaurants.
The time for My return is short. It is time to yield to My Spirit and let Him be who He is.”
