Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:10 (NASB95)
The Lord revealed that older, more mature believers have not seen a place for themselves in the body of Christ because they have felt like “outsiders.” This is because the Church, in subtle ways, has ostracized them. The Church and its leaders have not seen the value and importance of the more mature believers in His Body, but no matter what their age, they are essential to the Lord and His kingdom.
The younger generation is to learn from those who are older. There will be a restoration of those in their 80s and 90s; whatever age they are. They are being called to allow the Holy Spirit to flow through them in power and to be fruitful in Him.
The Lord will raise up an army of both the young and older adults. They have felt hopeless because they do not experience the Lord, and the Church has not included them in many ways. There is a host of the elderly who are part of the army of the Lord that He is raising up and who will be promoted to the front of His ranks.
Many in the Church have overlooked older adults, viewing them as having no potential. But the Lord is saying to them, “I am calling you forward as well, to the precise position that I have created and designed for you. You too can be saturated with the word of God, and the Spirit of God can and will fall on you. The things in the Bible are for you too! Be hungry and thirsty for them; go after them and do not despair of life or be hopeless! Do not despise this season of your life but hold on to the Lord and trust Him to move in and through you, and He will move!”
The Church does not realize the immense power the Lord wants to show through the elderly. Age is not a limiting factor in serving the Lord. The Lord will restore respect for older people in His Church so the younger generation will look up to them, asking, “How must I follow the Lord? What must I be sensitive to? What can I learn?” The Lord will set His house in order regarding this.
The Church should honor, respect, treat well, and listen to older adults. We must understand that the Lord is raising them up as an essential group in His army!
