I’m not sure I have the words to describe the experience having an 80+ year old woman, who has known the Lord most of her life, tell you that from time to time during prayer with others her hands feel like they are on fire. She didn’t understand what the Holy Spirit wanted her to do. How crazy is that?! We are encouraging her to step out and pray for people when she experiences the fire in her hands again.
Another woman, approximately the same age, experiences a vision after I told her to close her eyes and tell me what she could see. No, you didn’t read that wrong—I asked her to, “close your eyes and tell me what you see.” Why? Because the Holy Spirit prompted me that He wanted to reveal something to her and He did; that is who He is and that is what He does. She has had a number of dreams from the Lord over the course of her life, but never connected them with being prophetic. How crazy is that?! From the very day I first met her, the Lord told me that He wanted to release major revelation to her. She has only now begun to awaken to what the Holy Spirit has wanted to release her into her entire life.
What did she see? She saw a large group of people being led by Jesus to the ocean. I’ll give you one guess what that means. It means that Jesus is leading people to a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit. A flood of the Holy Spirit is coming to America; in a moment an ocean of the Spirit will cover the land. He is going to take back that which is His.
On the other side of the spectrum, we are talking to leaders that think they have it all figured out. One doesn’t believe that Christians are called to suffer, which appears to be a doctrine that is spread far and wide among the American Church. Take that junk doctrine to Iran, Iraq, China, Russia, Egypt or Syria and they will teach what it means to suffer for Christ. Or how about this one – Christians don’t have to follow the Holy Spirit to see His power flow to a lost and a dying world. How crazy is that?! I’ve got to tell you, not only is that position full of pride, but it is also really messed up. I mean messed up! It is a notion based on a mistaken understanding of securing what Jesus paid for without needing to walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit; Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us into what He secured on the Cross!
The humble are experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit and the proud, well, let’s just say Jesus came to help the really messed up if they will repent and humble themselves.
I suggest that you remember this and never forget it – blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God…and nobody else.
